Portlet development using Netbeans

So I am going to write more about technology than self improvement or mind related stuff because I only access to internet while at work…so I will write about work.

You see, I moved to a new place..in new state. I got my phone line transferred. It was working for few days, then came a long holiday (Chinese New Year). When I got back from the holiday the phone was dead…and nothing has changed since then.

Just know I got to know what is causing the problem is that the phone cable (underground copper cables) were stolen…yeah. Damn thiefs. So now I dont have any phone line connected at home hence…no internet connection also. I dont really mind about the phone..as I normally use the cellphone any way. Maybe I should move to wireless broadband. (which I am not that sure if it is offered here)

OK enough bout the internet problem…how about the job. Still struggling with new things, but I learn new things every day.

Before this I am more pro towards using Eclipse as the development IDE because of its features. But when I started to work on this portlet development things just become harder in Eclipse. Then some one in my team come across Netbeans portlet support. It is amazing. By uploading the plugins from the “Portal Pack” site ( I use version 2.0 beta..but work fine) to Netbeans 6.0 you get option to target for portlet development. Most of the scaffolding are created for you and when you deploy the portlet it automatically tested through the OpenContainer plugin….really amazing.

So I am moving to Netbeans for now…at least for the portlet development.
